Chicken Team - Van Nien Pagoda

“Song hành với Thăng Long - Hà Nội 1.000 năm tuổi, chùa Vạn Niên vẫn mang những nét cổ kính và tĩnh đạm nơi cửa Phật giữa không gian hối hả, nhộn nhịp chốn Hà Thành.”

1. Location:
The Van Nien pagoda is located in Xuan La, Tay Ho District. The pagoda has two gates, facing Lac Long Quan Street or Trich Sai Street on either sides.

2. Chicken Team:
4 members of the Chicken Team, one of who is a makeup artist, took part in the photo shoot.
3. Gear:
- Sony A7II
- Lens: ZA 16-35 f4, Batis 85 f1.8.
- Flash: Godox TT600s
- Trigger: Godox X1T for Sony
It had been raining in the previous 3 days so we were worried that the shooting session would be canceled. Magically enough as soon as we got there the rain stopped. It wasn’t ideal because we have no sun ray and the saturation seemed to be a bit off, but maybe the dark and somewhat washed out tone suited better with the religious location. The cloud also helped diffuse the sunlight, so we had soft light all around us, which meant we didn't need lots of gears to cut the hard light and add soft light: no diffuser, no strobe, no softbox, no light stand, no reflector, no pain.
The team was divided into two groups; each took photos of one model (since we had two, of course).
Ao dai is the traditional dress of Vietnam. We each have taken hundreds of photos of Ao dai, therefore we change locations a lot, as well as we don’t really stick with a specific model.
I just got myself a ZA 16-35 f4, so no doubt I tried to get it into action.

The Batis 85 f1.8 is, however, still my most trustworthy companion.

For beginner’s research purpose (pun intended), I have uploaded one of my edited photos as PSD, as well as the xmp file as below. Please feel free to edit it and do send me your final result so that we can learn from each other.
Finally, have fun shooting! And welcome to Hanoi!
